Marti Morenings, EcoLogical Energy Systems FounderMarti Morenings founded Universal Companies, an international distribution company for spas and resorts, in 1982 and currently employs over 100 people at the company’s headquarters near Abingdon, Virginia. From her experience in the spa industry, Marti saw the inherent connection between personal and planetary wellness. With this in mind, she initiated the first sustainability program of its kind in the spa industry, hiring a full-time sustainability specialist who not only implements environmental measures internally but also assists customers with spa greening while encouraging the company’s 500+ vendors to reformulate, redesign, and implement their own sustainability action plans. This eco-agenda has generated a positive ripple effect throughout the company, as well as throughout the spa industry.
With 27 years of experience owning and operating a successful company in addition to her fervent passion for a healthy planet, Marti founded EcoLogical Energy Systems to help create a similar ripple effect in the Tri-Cities. By partnering with local, state, and federal agencies, Ecological Energy Systems offers education, assessment, and economical solutions for residential and commercial energy saving applications.
